Louise Schiele
Sacramento, California
My 15- by 27-foot studio is built into the back of my home so that I can use
it whenever I get inspired, day or night. I laid the black and white floor tiles
myself last summer and love how all my colors pop once installed.
I’ve organized my fabrics into open-bin baskets by color, have an area
for embellishments, an ironing/fusing area, and my big red table that I had custom
made to fit my machine and how I sew my surface designs. My favorite aspects of
my studio are the table plus the fact that the room is accessible from anywhere
in my home. I get my inspiration from all the light that comes into my studio
through all the windows and my mini garden just outside my door. From my sewing
table, I can see my garden, all the trees and birds in our area.
