Carol Chave
New York, New York
Located in a formerly industrial building in DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass), Brooklyn, my studio is light and airy. The window frames a view of the East River, lower Manhattan, the Empire State Building, three bridges, working ships, a hard-working cormorant, feral cats in a vacant lot, and the ever-changing sky. I weave tapestries on a traditional Rio Grande loom, and completed tapestries cover the studio walls. Wool is displayed on shelving in color order, and one shelf provides a nook for stones, shells, and postcards collected on my travels. The counterpoint of the city and the natural work is a source of endless inspiration.
