4,000 ARTIST TRADING CARDS
ON VIEW IN OHIO
The Columbus Center for Paper & Book Arts in Columbus, Ohio, is sponsoring a second exhibition of artist trading cards (ATCs) following the success of its first one last year. These miniature mixed-media works, which measure 3 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches, often incorporate fabric or stitching. Other media include collage, rubber stamping, painting, drawing with pencil, ink, or chalk, screen printing, and using fine lettering techniques, photocopying, and photography. Notes the center’s Lisa Ohmer, “This emerging art form, while more established in Europe, is really becoming popular with artists on this side of the Atlantic, throughout North America.” The exhibition, House of Cards II: The Emerging Art of Artist Trading Cards, opened September 16 and is on view through December 9. Four thousand ATCs are included. A show catalog (35 pages, $12) is available through the center. The exhibit will travel to San Francisco and Chicago in 2007. |
