Sampling: Fiber-Postcard Valentines
||For Valentine’s Day, Fiberarts invited readers to send us fabric postcards, addressed to their sweeties, for us to mail from our hometown post office in Loveland, Colorado. The post office offers a special romantic postmark to mark the holiday every year. The Sampling section of our April/May issue is filled with these fabric postcards, and here we have expanded the section to include a sample of the cards we received from each of our participants.
Postcards traveled to us from Oregon and Michigan, from Belgium and the Netherlands, and continued on to Arizona and Washington, to the United Kingdom and Canada. Quite a few were sent in exchange between members of art-postcard groups (we noticed a bunch from Surface Design and Art2Mail—thanks for taking on the challenge!).
The makers of five postcards, drawn at random, received fun prizes to fuel their creative fires. (Thanks to sponsors Joggles.com, which markets a range of supplies for textile, cloth-doll, and mixed-media artists, and Kaspareks, which creates fine-art rubber stamps and collage elements for fiber artists.)
