WEB EXCLUSIVE:
Celebrating Nature:
Craft Traditions/Contemporary Expressions

In our November/December 2004 issue, Kevin V. Wallace writes about an exhibition he curated this fall at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles. It's on view through October 31. "It was a means of looking back at the roots of art while presenting the current state of craft, which reflects both tradition and the influence of contemporary painting and sculpture," he writes. Ninety contemporary artists were included, many of whom work with fiber. In the article, Kevin writes about seven of the artists who participated: how nature inspired them and how they use nature's materials in their sculpture and basketry. The article includes some stunning work from the exhibition, and here we present a web-exclusive gallery of additional images.
